The brief
Keep the original house, fix the dark back rooms and give the family somewhere to be outside in the rain.

We kept the post-and-beam frame and took out the walls that had been added since. The living room now runs the full width of the house.
A cedar porch on the south side doubles the usable space for eight months of the year.
